I spent over 15 years as a high school teacher. I had an occassional massage during that time, but was not a regular. In 2006 I dated a massage therapist, got to know his friends, and attended a Body Electric workshop. After learning just how powerful and healing touch can be, I decided to go to massage school. I graduated in April 2009 and immediately started a massage business with a classmate. Things changed and I have now stepped out on my own. About a week after graduation I also started working at Cortiva School of Massage assisting in classes and am now teaching Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology and Swedish massage classes. During my time in massage school I had exposure to Lomi Lomi massage. I found I really like how it unifies the body and enjoy doing it. So in March 2010 I attended a week long Lomi Lomi massage intensive workshop in Hawaii to further build my massage skills.
If you ever notice a bit of a shake as I do the work, I have a benign tremor.
Besides loving massage, I enjoy time with my partner Michael, with friends, cooking, concerts, travel, and outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, kayaking, and cross-country skiing. I am involved with the groups OutVentures and Ski Buddies, for which I am president this year. I am also a member of the Gay & Lesbian Medical Association. |
